Yoshi's Island 3 is coming to the 3ds

Yoshi is back!

          It's been seven years since the last Yoshi's Island, but now, Nintendo is working on a new Yoshi's Island. It was just announced in the latest Nintendo Direct. This game will bring back many of the things from the original one such as Yoshi's flutter jump and egg throw. Mr Iwata mentioned that there will be new gameplay mechanics added to the game, but we were not shown any. As of right now, this is all the information I have.
